A 31-year-old Snowflake, Ariz., man was arrested Nov. 9 at West Third Street and South Mill Avenue on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, and marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.
An officer noticed the man sitting in a parked truck in a dimly lit area at the base of “A” Mountain, the report said.
As the officer approached the car, he saw the man drop his hands to his lap and appear to be shuffling something into it, police reported.
The officer knocked on the window and asked the man to open up the doors, the report said.
Upon opening the doors, the officer reported smelling marijuana coming from the truck cab.
The officer asked if the man had any weapons and the man said he did not, police said.
In the man’s lap, the officer reported seeing a plastic bag with marijuana, a glass pipe and a medicine bottle.
The officer searched the vehicle and found a Bowie Buck Knife with a 6-inch blade between the driver seat and the center console, according to police.
Also inside the truck, the officer found an unloaded AK-47 rifle with the empty magazine on the floor next to it, police said.
The man told the officer he forgot the rifle was inside his truck, police reported.
The man was booked into Tempe City Jail, the report said.

A 46-year-old Mesa man was arrested Nov. 8 in the 120 block of East Fifth Street on suspicion of theft, according to a police report.
An investigation revealed that between April 26 and May 7 the man stole construction materials belonging to a roofing company, the report said.
The man was an employee of the company and transported the stolen items to his home in Mesa, police reported.
The company later learned from another employee that the man had been stealing materials from work, according to police.
Some of the items were found at his home as they were stacked up next to the house, police said.
Police reported the materials were easily identifiable and had the company’s business name on the packaging labels.
The report said the total cost of the stolen items was $2,179.

On Nov. 8 at the request of police, the man voluntarily responded to Tempe Police Headquarters to surrender, police said.
He was booked into Tempe City Jail, the report said.
