Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- A 39-year-old Tempe woman was arrested on the 2000 block of East Apache Drive on suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug, according to a police report.The woman and a man were contacted during a traffic stop when the man driving the car stopped to talk to someone who was walking and created a traffic obstruction, police reported.
After police contacted the man and woman, they gave consent to search the vehicle, where police found a partially smoked marijuana cigar in the center console, according to the report.
Police also found a clear glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine and a small bag with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana inside a box of generic brand Lucky Charms, Police reported.
Inside a purple handbag on the passenger floorboard where the woman had been sitting police found a bag with methamphetamine and a bent straw commonly used to smoke the drug, according to the report.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
After arriving at the jail the woman was strip searched and officers found a straw containing a usable amount of methamphetamine in her bra, according to the report.
- A 33-year-old Mesa woman was arrested on the corner of East Southern Avenue and South Terrace Road for suspicion of aggravated DUI, according to a police report.Police stopped the woman after seeing her commit several traffic violations while driving a vehicle with severe damage to the front of the car, according to the report.
After investigating, police learned the woman was in the process of fleeing the scene of a collision involving another vehicle at Loop 202 and McClintock Drive in Chandler, police reported.
The woman showed multiple signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes, the odor of alcohol on her breath, swaying, staggering, and the apparent lack of knowledge of having been involved in a collision, according to the report.
Due to the numerous signs of impairment, the woman was placed under arrest for DUI and a records check revealed her license had been revoked due to a prior DUI conviction in 2009, police reported.
The woman was transported to the DUI task force command post in Tempe and voluntarily submitted to a blood test where two vials of her blood were drawn for analysis, according to the report.
The woman told officers she had four beers before driving even though she knew her license was revoked, and she said she was aware she had collided with something but did not know what it was, according to the report.
Another officer with Arizona DPS investigated the collision and cited the woman for hit and run violations, police reported.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
