Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- An 18-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested Sept. 22 on the 1900 block of East Caldwell Street on suspicion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.
Officers initially contacted the woman because she had parked her car at a park that had already closed, police reported.The officer noticed a smell of marijuana coming from inside the car as he approached it, according to the report.The officer told the woman and two other passengers that he could smell they were smoking marijuana and he should give the rest to him, police reported.
The woman, who was sitting in the driver's seat, told her little brother in the backseat to listen to the officer, and the brother gave the officer a clear bag with marijuana inside of it, according to the report.
The officer also found a marijuana grinder in the woman’s purse when he searched the car, police reported.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and released pending charges, according to the report.
- A 34-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested Sept. 19 on the 5000 block of South Arizona Mills Circle on suspicion of failing to return vehicle to security interests, according to a police report.The woman was stopped by officers, because they noticed that the car she was driving had been reported stolen by Western America Collections to the Glendale Police Department, police reported.The woman told officers that she had stopped paying for the car in April and that this was the only car available to both her and her husband at the time, according to the report.The woman was also driving under a suspended license and the registration on the car was no longer valid, police reported.
The officers confirmed that the collections company had sent letters to the woman about the car, but they continued to be sent back, according to the report.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and released pending charges, police reported.
