The number of yards Mike Bercovici has thrown for in his two games filling in for Taylor Kelly. A 488-yard debut performance, followed up by 510 against USC has allowed ASU to split two tough games, despite the lack of a running game.
The number of options Bercovici had to throw to on the final play. Although, we all know that pass was going to Jaelen Strong. D.J. Foster ran the low route, Strong the middle, and Cam Smith ran to the top level.
The last time ASU had beaten the Trojans in Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Entering Saturday's game, the Sun Devils had the second-longest losing streak in the Coliseum (seven games). Oregon State was the only team with a longer losing streak.
Jordan Simone's number of tackles against USC. Not only was it the most tackles by an ASU player in the Todd Graham era, it's the most since 1988, when Mark Tingstad made 20 tackles against UA.
Possibly the most important number of the game. The Sun Devils had zero turnovers, after giving it up four times against UCLA. Mike Bercovici admitted ASU should have scored 60-plus points last week if not for turnovers, and he won the game this week with none.
The number of yards Jaelen Strong caught passes for. Saturday was Strong's first 200-yard game — he has 10 of 100 or more. It was also his first multi-touchdown game — he caught three.
The number of receivers Mike Bercovici threw the ball to. Early in the season, nearly every pass went to either D.J. Foster or Jaelen Strong, but since Bercovici has taken over, he's spread the ball around more. Both Kody Kohl and De'Marieya Nelson were recipients of the ever so rare tight end reception, too. Nelson had one catch for 11 yards, and Kohl had three for 43.
Yards ASU averaged per carry. The Sun Devils only ran the ball 22 times for 31 yards. D.J. Foster had only 10 carries for 13 yards, and for the second straight week, Deantre Lewis led the team in rushing. This week, it was with 15 yards. Last week, it was with 46.
The number of Pac-12 losses by 10 of the 12 teams in the conference. Through six weeks of the season, the conference is truly a toss-up. Only UA and Colorado are the exceptions. The Wildcats are 2-0 in conference, and the Buffaloes are 0-3.
