Tempe Police: Man smokes marijuana in car at local park

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

A 19-year-old male was arrested Oct. 11 on the 800 block of West Fifth Street on suspicion of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.

Officers approached the man's vehicle parked in the parking lot of Jaycee Park, police reported. When the man rolled down the driver's side window, smoke and the smell of marijuana poured out, according to the report.

Police asked the man where the marijuana was and he handed over a half-burnt marijuana joint, according to the report.

The man was removed from the vehicle and detained while officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found two small plastic baggies, one of which contained marijuana, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the police report.
