Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:
A 31-year-old Gilbert man was arrested Nov. 10 on the 1400 block of North Scottsdale Road on suspicion of forgery, false reporting and two outstanding warrants, according to a police report.
Officers were called to the scene at the Red Lion Inn and Suites, after the hotel clerk contacted police in order to verify the man’s driver’s license, police reported.
Officers ran an inconclusive records check of the name on the ID, according to the report. The name and signature on license appeared to be inconsistent and several important elements to a valid license were missing, police reported.
When asked by officers for a second time, the man continued to identify himself with the false name listed on the license, according to reports.
Officers then detained the man, and he finally told officers his true identity, police reported.
Officers ran a wants and warrants check on the man and resulted in two outstanding warrants, police reported.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the police report.
A 23-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested Nov. 12 at the 100 block of East 5th Street on suspicion of burglary and trafficking in stolen property, according to a police report.
The man had broken into a bedroom window and stole several expensive items on Oct. 18, police reported.
Neighbors had saw the man and reported the incident to police, providing a physical description and a license plate number, according to the report. The man then took a pair of sunglasses stolen from the house and pawned them using his Arizona Driver’s License, police reported.
The exchange at the pawn shop took place approximately three hours after the burglary and was about two miles from the victim’s residence, police reported.
On Nov. 12, officers caught the man and told officers he was unaware of the burglary, police reported.
The man eventually confessed to being at the pawn shop when officers presented evidence, according to the report.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
