Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:
A 39-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Oct. 29 near Rural Road and Spence Avenue on suspicion of motor vehicle theft, driving on a suspended license, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.
The woman was contacted by officers after it was determined she was driving a car that had been reported stolen two weeks prior, police reported.
When contacted by officers, the woman said she had suspected the car was stolen, and had been lent to her by a friend, whom police later determined to be her niece, according to the report.
During the search, police found a usable substance of what the officer believed to be methamphetamine, documents show. The woman admitted to police that the meth and supplies were hers and admitted she uses meth daily, police reported.
A check of her driver’s license showed her license was currently suspended, police reported. Police also discovered two outstanding warrants for the woman’s arrest, according to the report.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
A 39-year-old Tempe man was arrested Oct. 31 at the Circle K near Mill Avenue and University Drive on suspicion of shoplifting, according to a police report.
The man, and a woman he was with, were seen by store employees, as well as video surveillance, entering the store and leaving with two 30-packs of Bud Light beer without paying for them, police reported.
The total cost of the beer was about $52, according to the report.
Records show the woman entered the store, removed the two boxes of beer and placed one on the ground, police reported. The man then picked up the box and the couple left without paying, according to the report.
Loss prevention workers at the Circle K stopped the two as they left, police reported. The woman remained silent, but the man denied taking the beer, which conflicted with video surveillance and witness statements, according to the report.
Police also determined the man had an outstanding warrant on a probation violation, following assault charges, police reported.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
