Tempe Police: Man asks to be stunned after climbing onstage, doesn't get tased

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

  • A 24 year-old man was arrested at Tempe Beach Park on March 14 on suspicion of disorderly conduct and marijuana possession, according to a police report.The man was arrested after he attempted to climb onto the stage at the Pot of Gold Music Festival at Tempe Beach park, police reported.Security escorted the man off of the property where he refused to leave after requests from security members, according to the report.

    The man told security members to stun him with a Taser, police reported. He then became uncooperative by pushing them and attempting to run from the security team, according to the report.

    The man was detained and arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and during a search police found a marijuana joint in his left front shirt pocket, according to the report.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.

  • A 22 year-old Chandler man was arrested at Tempe Beach Park on March 14 for suspicion of marijuana possession and having an outstanding warrant, according to the report.Officers were flagged down by security members during the Pot of Gold Music Festival at Tempe Beach Park in reference to people who were involved in a theft and altercation with an unknown man and woman, police reported.Officers contacted the man and his roommate by the beer tent and both said they had been involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown man on Mill Avenue and then again inside the event, according to the report.

    Officers could not determine if a crime had been committed at this time, police reported.

    A records check revealed the man had an active felony warrant for his arrest and the man was placed under arrest, according to the report.

    The man admitted to officers that he had four marijuana cigarettes in his waist band and after a search by officers the cigarettes were found along the man's underwear rubber lining, police reported.

    The man told officers he was holding the marijuana for a friend that was somewhere inside the event, according to the report.

    The man said his friend asked him to sneak the marijuana into the event for him, police reported.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
