At a press conference on Tuesday, Kelsi Langley said police were suggestive in their line of questioning on the day the state believes her boyfriend, ASU football signee Davon Durant, assaulted her.

Durant is facing three misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges and one felony aggravated assault charge in the Maricopa County Superior Court.

Langley told police Durant hit and choked her but recanted days later. On Tuesday she said her initial report was done out of anger — an argument had stemmed between Durant and her out of jealousy. She also said police wanted her to fit a domestic violence narrative.

"They wanted to hear I was a victim of domestic violence,” she said.

Langley hasn't been able to speak with Durant since the incident, but she said she spoke to his family and ASU football coaches, though wouldn't specify which ones. Durant remains suspended indefinitely.

Civil-rights leader Jarrett Maupin said ASU is seeking to expel Durant.

“We’re aware of it because Ms. Langley has filed an appeal in relationship to that decision or that intention and as I understand it Mr. Durant has also filed a response," Maupin said.

An ASU spokesman said he could not confirm it because he was prohibited by federal law from disclosing any information about students.
