Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:
A 24-year-old Mesa man was arrested April 4 on the 1800 block of East Rio Salado Parkway on suspicion of shoplifting, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the police report.
Officers were called to the scene after an employee noticed the man selecting several watches from a store display and placing them in his possession, according to the report. Employees also noticed the man take a T-shirt and hide it under his shirt, according to the report. The stolen merchandise was valued at $80.95, police reported.
During questioning, the man admitted to stealing the items and said he hoped to sell them and pay off several fines related to his probation, according to police. Police then placed the man under arrest and performed a search, according to the report. During the search, police uncovered several items containing burned residue and a usable quantity of prescription drugs, according to the report.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
A 20-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested on April 3 at West Fifth Street and South Mill Avenue on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to the police report.
Police contacted the woman during a traffic stop, police reported. When officers approached the vehicle, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana, according to the report.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered a useable amount of marijuana located in a small plastic baggy, police reported.
The woman was then transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, according to the police report.
