Report: ASU football 2015 signees Morie Evans, 'Scrappy' Norman will not join team

ASU football loses two members of its 2015 signing class

Football Breaking News

ASU football 2015 signee Morie Evans will not be joining the team this fall, according to a report from SunDevilSource's Chris Karpman.

Evans did not achieve NCAA Clearinghouse certification, according to the report.

With the departure of Evans from the 2015 signing class, ASU is now at the max of 25 on the enrollment counter for the year.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back was a three-star prospect (Rivals.com) out of Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Tenn. He also received interest from Baylor, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, TCU and Texas A&M, among others.

The door is not shut on Evans joining the Sun Devils, however.

The Sun Devils have made several additions to the class of 2015 post-signing day. Former Notre Dame signee Bo Wallace, UCLA graduate transfer Devin Lucien, JUCO signee Tim White and Tennessee walk-on transfer Ryan Jenkins have all reportedly joined ASU since signing day.

Update: July 15, 2015 6:48 p.m.

ASU football will also be without the services of 2015 signee Stanley "Scrappy" Norman this fall, according to Doug Haller of AZCentral.

Norman, a four-star cornerback prospect out of Junipero Serra High School High School in Gardena, Calif., will grayshirt after suffering a recent knee injury.

In grayshirting, Norman's five-year eligibility clock will not begin until next season.

Additional Notes:

- ASU's quarterback cluster just got thinner, according to a report from Karpman:

Gerhart missed all of spring football due to his commitments with the ASU baseball team, where he is a reserve outfielder. He was originally recruited as an athlete out of high school.

With Gerhart's position switch, ASU now has four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster: redshirt senior Mike Bercovici, redshirt freshman Manny Wilkins, freshman Brady White and freshman Bryce Perkins.
