ASU beach volleyball went to Los Angeles for their first set of road games and also got their first road win as they swept Loyola Marymount but got swept by USC on March 10th.

The team started their day off going up against Loyola Marymount and found a lot of success against the school.

The Sun Devils fielded their fourth team, which is comprised of junior Mia Rivera and freshman Jourdan Parnell, and were able to get the win in the first two sets.

While that match was taking place, the fifth team for ASU - freshmen Natalie Braun and Kylie Pickrell - was in for a tough match up. The first set went to Loyola Marymount by a score of 21-11, and ASU was able to pick up the second set to force a third set with a score of 21-17. The third set went to ASU with a score of 15-12.

In the second round of the ASU-Loyola Marymount matchup, ASU took all three matches. But in two of those matches, the Sun Devils had to go to a third round as the first team for ASU - juniors Bianca Arellano and Whitney Follette - won both sets with scores of 21-19 and 21-13. Sophomores Kwyn Johnson and Syndey Palmer went the distance, winning two straight sets out of three. Finally, ASU's third team of junior Madison Berridge and freshman Bethany Wedepohl also won the last two sets to win the match.

ASU's next contest wasn't as fruitful, ending in a loss to No. 2 USC. The Sun Devils started off losing their first two matches in the first round, as the fifth and fourth teams weren’t able to force either match to a third set.

In the second round, all but one of the teams lost in the first two sets. The third team which has Berridge and Wedepohl lost the first set badly 21-2 but were able to take the second one with the score being 21-16. They kept it close but failed to close the deal in the third set with the score being 15-10.

The Sun Devils finish the day with a split between their two opponents. They'll now look to their road matchup at Long Beach State Friday.
