Tempe police reported the following incident Sunday:

A Phoenix man was arrested April 16 on the 1600 block of East Watson Drive on suspicion of trespassing, failing to appear and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.

Officers arrested the man in an alley just south of Fees Middle School after he climbed to the school’s roof, police reported.

During an interview, the man told police he had been up on that same roof at least four times before, according to the report.

That night, he had bought $15 worth of marijuana to smoke up on the roof with his girlfriend, police reported.

The man said he had entered the school’s parking lot on the south side and that he usually sees other people up there, according to the report.

He said his girlfriend told him she saw police, so they decided to run south into the alleyway together, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.

Report compiled by Aimee Plante.
