Then ASU football freshman offensive lineman Steven Miller walks off the bus for Camp Tontozona practice at Rumsey Park on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, in Payson, Ariz.

ASU football assistant strength coach and former offensive lineman Steven Miller died April 15 at the age of 29. The football program confirmed his passing and canceled Thursday's practice.

A product of Gilbert High School, Miller played four seasons for ASU, starting 35 games from 2016 to 2019.

Miller joined the Sun Devil coaching staff soon after ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham was hired.

As an offensive assistant at ASU, Dillingham spent time coaching Miller in 2016. When Dillingham joined as head coach at ASU, he offered Miller the same role he had started with as a coach.

Going from offensive assistant to assistant strength coach, Miller has been with ASU through every step of Dillingham's journey as a Sun Devil.

Since the news of his passing, colleagues, teammates and players have shown an outpouring of love on social media, focusing on the positive impact he has had on the people in his life.

Dillingham wrote on X that Miller "had a joy for people that was unmatched and impacted so many lives."

Chris Karpman of SunDevilSource broke the news of Miller's passing. He added some thoughtful words on social media.

"We're taught in this business to emotionally separate ourselves from what we're covering," Karpman said in a post on X. "Impossible to do that in this situation. I've known Steven for 11-12 years, since he was in HS. Truly a great person with a special care for ASU and its players."
