Smith is the first athlete to commit to the class of 2016, and would be the first wide receiver in the class if he goes that route.
Smith stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 185 pounds according to Rivals, and is ranked as the No. 43 athlete in his class.
Smith is the second commit from Texas in this class, with JUCO cornerback J'Marcus Rhodes committing to the Sun Devils earlier this week.
