Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

A 25-year-old Fort Defiance woman was arrested Aug. 29 at West University Drive and South Ash Avenue on suspicion of aggravated assault of a police officer, criminal damage, escaping custody, resisting arrest, driving under the influence and possession of an open liquor container in a car, according to a police report.

The woman was first contacted during a vehicle stop, police reported. The officer conducted a DUI investigation on the woman and had enough evidence to place the woman under arrest, police reported.

When the officer tried to place her under arrest, she pulled away and resisted, according to the report.

The woman turned her body, tensed up and placed her fists on her chest, according to the report. The officer again tried to place the woman in handcuffs, police reported.

The woman slapped him, hitting him in the mouth and causing him to bleed, police reported. After hitting the officer in the face, the woman ran into a parking lot, according to the report.

While she was running, she tripped over a curb, police reported. She was placed under arrest shortly afterwards, according to the report.

The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
