Tempe Police: Man throws remote at girlfriend's face, apologizes to her mom

Tempe police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

A 27-year-old Tempe man was arrested Feb. 16 on suspicion of aggravated assault, according to a police report.

The man was engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend when he threw a television remote at her head, police reported.

The man drove his partner to the hospital to seek treatment, but left before police arrived, according to the report.

Doctors said the woman had a broken nose, police reported.

A friend of the couple said the man had thrown the remote at the woman’s face causing her to start bleeding, according to the report.

The boyfriend had later contacted the woman’s mother to apologize and say he “didn’t mean to” hit the woman’s face, police reported.

A records check revealed that the man had an existing warrant, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.


A 26-year-old Tempe man was arrested Feb. 16 in the 1200 block of South McClintock Drive on suspicion of burglary and refusing to give his name to officers, according to a police report.

Officers arrived after a call alerted them that a man had jumped over the wall of a business complex and had attempted to steal a bike by cutting its lock, police reported.

The caller said the man had discarded his backpack behind the business before attempting to steal the bike, according to the report.

Although officers instructed the man that he was required by law to provide his name for a pending investigation, he refused to identify himself, police reported.

Following his arrest, police searched the man’s backpack and found three separate bolt cutters, according to the report.

Officers located a bike at the scene that had cut marks on its lock, police reported.

The man provided his name while driving to the police station, and a records check revealed that the man had a existing warrant, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
