The McAllister Academic Village Project will offer a plethora of new housing and eateries, but for now it's the cause of campus construction and the closure of McAllister Avenue from University Drive to Terrace Road.
It also means FLASH services will be re-routed starting Friday, Aug. 26.
The construction that will cause the closure is part of the McAllister Academic Village Sewer Project and will take place in three phases. During each of the three phases, a different part of McAllister will be closed off.
The exact closures for the second and third phase had not yet been disclosed to Parking and Transit Services, said PTS spokesman Mark Krug.
The closure and re-routing will start Aug. 26 and will last until the first of the three phases of the project is finished with a hesitant date of Sept. 30, Krug said.
The final phase should be finished by January 2006.
Krug said there would be a pedestrian path that will allow people to cross from Structure 2 to the other side of McAllister during the closure. The west side of McAllister on the sidewalk area will also be accessible and pedestrians can use the north side of Tyler Street to cross.
While several FLASH riders said the FLASH re-route would not affect them, the detour has at least one student annoyed.
"That [FLASH re-route] sucks," said biology junior Michelle Lange, who was previously unaware of the detour.
"It'll just be a little more walking, but it's still inconvenient," she added.
