These sites are good, or "maybe" not

A joint review is called for when two hilarious web sites have shown the idiocy and amusement that is born in everyday language.

Www.passiveaggressivenotes.com is a Web site that lives up to its name. The site is simply a gallery of comical genius that comes from disgruntled roommates, coworkers or randomly offended citizens of the world. Those who’ve been wronged but don’t want to resort to actual confrontation leave behind the various notes.

Each post has commentary assisting the readers, but sometimes the notes speak for themselves. Posts are categorized and users can enter passive aggressive notes they’ve found and comment on entries. The site lists the most popular and best entries of all time and links to other amusing sites. Passive Aggressive Notes, the book, will be out November 4.

The power of punctuation can overcome even the best of writers. Www.quotation-marks.blogspot.com is a blog that has wonderful photos of signs, posters and notes that demonstrate a ridiculous misuse of what is apparently a favorite punctuation mark — the quotation mark. Perhaps this unnecessary placement is a result of some chronic quoting disease that is linked to those people who do random air quotes.

While some entries may cause you to think of amusing innuendos, others are just plain random. It might be difficult for some to figure out where they should place their quotation marks, but a sign that advertises “cornbread” might cause some people to talk. Readers can submit unnecessary quotes they’ve found and comment on what they’ve seen on the site. Be warned: After looking at this blog, you will find yourself noticing misplaced quotation marks “everywhere.”
