Friday Nights at Homme Lounge

Phoenix, Az 85013
9 p.m.- 2 a.m.
There’s no better way to relieve some of that finals week stress than by doing some butt shaking and waist twirling. The dance party has evolved from ceremonial Bar Mitzvah formals, to high-security school dances, to parties in Jimmy’s basement, to parties when Jimmy’s parents went out of town, to Cherry Lounge and Martini Ranch. But what if ASU students don’t want to go somewhere with a dress code and overplayed beats? Party Foul is the new hot dance spot.
Tiffany Egbert, graphic design alum, is a regular at Party Foul. “It’s one of the best dance parties in town on a Friday night.” According to Egbert the event first debuted with the name of French Kiss. The local celebrity DJs met every Friday night at Homme Lounge to play great music and have a good time. The event eventually moved venues and changed the staff, but it did not have the same following. So when the DJs came back to Homme they renamed the event Party Foul.
Although the list of DJs varies there is a consistent Party Foul crew. The usual lineup includes: DJ Epidemic, Kevin M.O.B., BC/AD, Bigie and Craig Citizen. There is also a roaming photographer and a photo booth where people can come up with their own poses and then find the pics online later. There is often also a projection screen, bright lights and a fog machine.
“There is a good amount of people and the music is awesome and the dancing is awesome,” says Egbert. “There are a lot of indie rocker type of people. It’s not like Scottsdale or anything.”
Liz Surin, architecture alum, says “Party Foul is crazy but always a good time. I love to dance there.” Surin has only been a few times but claims her friends go every weekend.
“It’s really, really good music and you can go crazy and not feel inhibited,” says Egbert.
Homme Lounge, located on 138 W. Camelback Road, caters well to the event. There is a large bar, a separate dance floor and a small smoking patio. On Friday nights there is no cover until 11 p.m., and then it’s only $4. There are $1 wells from 9-10 p.m. and $3 Jagers until 11 p.m.
The dance party has finally grown up and evolved. Party Foul and all its DJs are on Myspace, so ASU students can check out the music before they go. So for great tunes, crazy dancing and drinks that make finals only a bad memory, ASU students can check out Party Foul.
