Ozomatli

Thursday, April 9

These fools got a big break in 1998 from Carlos Santana when he invited them to tour with him.

Since then, they’ve made a big name for themselves, releasing their latest record, “Don’t mess with the dragon” in 2007. They toured last year with O.A.R (was Gwar unavailable?) and will be performing this Thursday at the Marquee Theatre.

The show starts at 6:30p.m. and tickets are $23 - $25. They can be purchased through www.luckymanonline.com.

The moral of the story? Carlos Santana is a badass/saint.

Gourmet Couples

Friday, April 10

For those looking to treat that special someone to a nice night out, or even those just looking to make a good first impression, this event is a great option.

Gourmet Couples is a one-night event where couples make their own dish – and then eat it with a nice wine.

It may sound like a pain in the ass — unless you have any appreciation for good food and taking time to make it well. Food is, after all, the only form of art which requires its audience to use all of their senses.

It may be a bit pricey ($150 per couple) but what’s money when you’re in love?

The event takes place this Friday at Sweet Basil Gourmetware and Cooking School in Scottsdale.

National Empanada Day

Wednesday, April 8

It’s absolutely thrilling to find a day like today. Empanadas are amazing little treats and it’s marvelous that we get to celebrate an otherwise ordinary Wednesday in April by exploring the wonders of baked snacks.

Empanadas are like little fruit pies. Some folks make them with meat — which are just as good, but not for dessert.

Visit your local Food City and ask around for the bakery department. There, you’ll discover the incredible tasty tidbits that are Empanadas.

Enjoy.
