President Barack Obama is like Santa — that is, if Santa gave you a bunch of presents you didn’t want and then asked you to pay him back $12 trillion in the next 10 years because being a woman is no longer a pre-existing condition.

Arizona has joined as one of 20 states fighting against the federal government’s health care bill. The main purpose of these lawsuits focuses on the unconstitutional individual mandates, but what many are also fighting for is a United States without excessive entitlements backed by unfair taxation.

Here are 10 reasons why health care reform (our step toward socialized health care) doesn’t make sense.

  • You simply cannot insure every unhealthy person in the United States without going bankrupt. Insurance, like a casino, is about risk. If all visitors to a casino won more money than they put in, the casino would go bankrupt and so would insurance agencies.
  • The only thing that can partially keep socialized health care from drowning is a value-added tax. Please, Obama, keep taxing families for making money and buying American goods and services.
  • This year, for the first time, Social Security will pay out more than it will take in, according to The New York Times. It’s only a matter of time until everything else (like the Medicaid/Medicare microcosms) will do the same.
  • CNN Money announced that the government will be starting a 10 percent tax on tanning salon services in order to help pay for the cost. There’s gonna be a situation.
  • Fidel Castro applauded our “accomplishment” in passing the health care legislation. Thanks, Fidel. Sorry again about the trade embargo …
  • Only 47 percent of the population currently pays a federal income tax and the top 10 percent of earners pay about 73 percent of the total collected, according to the Associated Press. Why should they have to adopt and pay for the unhealthy lifestyles of other people?
  • Contrary to popular belief (YouTube search: “Obama Money - Where Did it Come From?”), Obama is not paying for the health care bill with money from … his stash. You do not get any free ObamaCare. You must buy your own if you want it. Which is what we were doing in the first place except now …
  • … premium costs will increase. When an insurance company cannot deny cancer coverage to a person with a pre-existing tumor, it will go bankrupt unless they charge more money for the insurance.
  • Health care reform might as well be called the “Higher Premiums, Higher Taxes, and Higher Debt Bill.” It’s up to the states now to make the fight against the direction in which our country is moving so that our representatives will hear loud and clear what we’re saying.
I’m glad our own state has courageously stood up for its citizens, and I will continue to hope that more states join in these lawsuits after thoroughly completing and reviewing their cases.
