Buffalo Wild Wings

As you make your way into Tempe’s new Buffalo Wild Wings, it almost feels like you are running with your team through the tunnel onto the field. Once you past the the end of the “tunnel,” you find yourself lost in a field of tables, sports paraphernalia and 54 flat screen televisions covering more than eight walls.

Monday morning, the new location became the 700th branch of Buffalo Wild Wings to open its doors to the public.

The air already smells of wings smothered in a variety of delicious sauces, and it’s easy to listen to your favorite tune by using “TouchTunes,“ a modern day jukebox filled with AC/DC, Paula Abdul, Aerosmith and flashing colorful lights.

Located on the northeast corner of Rural Road and University Drive, the store’s goal is to draw in nearby Arizona State University sports fans and to make it the new place to catch the game, says bar manager Kim Jackson.

“We hope students will come in, not just for a cheap beer, but for the atmosphere,” Jackson says. “We really want to bring in a big crowd for games.”

If you are a Ultimate Fighting Championship fan, Jackson says the store will be covering every fight with no cover charge. But if you’re an ASU football fan, you might not like this very much. UFC fights will take precedence when they fall on the same night as ASU games.

If you go… 705 S. Rural Rd., Suite 101, Tempe. buffalowildwings.com. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Devil's Advocate Bar and Grill

The Devil‘s Advocate is another great place to catch the game if aren’t looking to spend the night on your feet. Pizza, wings and plenty of drinks to choose from make this a great place to sit back, relax and root for your Sun Devils.

With 39 televisions and what the owner calls a “fun” atmosphere, sports fans can enjoy the company of their friends while watching the favorite teams duke it out on the field.

Although it may be a little bit farther away from the Tempe campus, Devils Hideaway is worth the drive.

Every ASU game will be screened and students are encouraged to bring their ASU ID to get a 10 percent discount.

The walls are Sun Devil gold and decorated with ASU sports paraphernalia and when the game goes to commercial, you can entertain yourself with a game of pool.
