ASU Gammage opened in 1964 — a feat of modern architecture that was originally planned as an opera house for Baghdad, Iraq. Every year, thousands of students file past the Frank Lloyd Wright structure on their way to class. Every year, thousands of theatergoers fill the space for performances ranging from Broadway musicals to Homecoming comedy shows. But few people go beyond the 46-year-old curtains. State Press Magazine had the chance to hang out backstage at Gammage during the load-in for "Beauty and the Beast," a special engagement running Oct. 19 through Oct. 24. Check out our behind-the-scenes footage of the set construction and interview with production manager David Zack.
