Downtown Dispatch: Jobot

A few weeks ago, another coffee-shop gem opened in downtown Phoenix: Jobot Coffee.

Jobot is the brainchild of John Sagasta, a local coffee connoisseur who first brought coffee to Conspire about two years ago. Back in August, Sagasta told the Phoenix New Times that he would be moving the coffee out of Conspire and into his own place right down the street at 918 N. Fifth St., next door to The Lost Leaf.

Now in a much more coffee-concentrated space, Jobot offers a special blend of Cartel Coffee beans, and some of the best soy lattes in town. After finding out about this new shop a few weeks ago, I immediately went down to see the place, and to get a taste of the coffee.

When I got there, I was actually quite surprised at how aesthetically pleasing the shop front is, as well as the inside, and how the art of local artist Casebeer adorned the walls (a temporary show I'm assuming). The quality of the coffee was actually surprising as well, and offered a very yummy pick-me-up during the middle of my day. I also really loved how the barista tapped the metal cup he was using to froth the milk on the counter that I had sat my phone and hands on. (The gesture kind of made the shop feel more cozier, and personal to me.)

Jobot also offers a spacious outdoor seating area, great for drinking hot coffee in the currently cool weather that we're having around here, as well as two cozy rooms to drink your coffee in. Jobot also offers a space for the Pink Slip Poetry Slam every Monday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Jobot is open seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. (Perfect for all those late night study sessions.)
