What to Watch: Saturday Night at MadCap

You all remember good ‘ol Madcap Theaters, right? Well, there is a bunch going on there today and tonight. Let me tell you about it!

First, there is a series of workshops covering different technology topics that are also relevant to the arts. For instance, there is a workshop called “How to build your own Simon game” from 11 a.m. 'til 12:15 p.m. The workshop prices vary, or you can learn all day for $60. I know this isn’t exactly a film, but it should be interesting. I don’t know a bunch about technology. If you’re like me, go to a workshop or two. It might help!

Next, there’s a concert at 7 p.m., doors at 6:30. For only $8 in advance or $10 at the door, you can enjoy music from Static March, Tiger Heist, and Newspaper Taxi (all presented by Half Circle). Check out Half Circle Presents here and Static March here.

Again, I know this isn’t a film. However, it’s at a Madcap. And you could spend all day doing stuff there!

On to the films...

Enjoy a double-feature of “Frankenstein’s Castle of Freaks” and “The Dracula Saga” at 8 p.m. or 10 p.m. for $8. “The Dracula Saga” sounds particularly interesting — Count Dracula, ill-suited offspring, angry nieces. What more could you need in a 1973 horror flick? As the description says, it’s “a soap opera of sex and gore… something you can really sink your teeth into!” Sounds horrifically dreadful and enticing.

Kind of like the next film you can go see — The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Have you seen the movie before? Have you seen it live, in theaters before? If not, you have to. There is no option. (Did you see the Rocky Horror “Glee” episode? Did you see this episode without seeing the movie? Go see the movie! Live. It’s a whole different experience than watching it at home or watching the “Glee” episode. Virgins beware.

The doors open at 11 p.m., the movie is at midnight and the cost is just $10 for hours of unexplainable fun.

Just to explain how awesome the show is — it will now be at Madcap every Saturday night. That’s right. Every. Single. Saturday. Night. At least until the end of January as far as I can tell from the MadCap calendar.
