I am always inspired by the unique, fashion forward styles worn by our very own ASU students. Luckily I will have the opportunity throughout the semester to recognize those chic and trendy students for their sense of style.
Now that the Arizona weather is in its awkward transitional stage of winter and summer, you see a variety of different styles. A popular trend for Arizona’s unpredictable weather is a mix of both light and heavy clothing.
Walking on her way back from class I stopped fashion forward Nichole McCoy. Nichole is wearing a perfect example of light and heavy clothing. On top she is wearing a lightweight long sleeve shirt with a detailed, yet simple lacy pattern on the back.
On the bottom, Nichole chose to wear black skinny jeans—which are a great staple piece to have in your closet. For shoes, she chose her brown knee-high, lace-up boots, which go perfectly with any outfit.
As far as accessories go, Nichole definitely knows her stuff. Every girl likes a statement bag and what better way to do it than with a bright fuchsia colored school bag. Nichole is showing how you can even be fashionable down to what you carry your books in.
Jewelry is also a great way to pull an outfit together without going too over the top. Nichole demonstrates this perfectly with a simple chain necklace, small chandelier earrings, a beaded cuff bracelet, and a silver braided ring. Nichole is even wearing the new trend of sparkly nail polish—so chic.
Light and heavy clothing mixed together is your best bet when it comes to Arizona’s end of winter season. Layering is also another great option. By wearing a heavier clothes over your lighter ones in the morning, you have the option to peel off the layers as it becomes warmer during the afternoon and vice versa for nighttime.
Knee-high boots and combat boots are a definite must this season. Many fashionable individuals are showing their unique style through their boots. Whether you have every kind of boot in every color, or just one good, solid pair of boots, your outfit can never fail.
Arizona weather can be a bit confusing and tricky to dress for however, if you have a mixture of both light and heavy clothing this desert will be no match for you.
