Recently I took a drive down 7th Avenue in Phoenix to explore all the cute shops that line the road between Indian School and Camelback Roads. Among the many shops I ventured around in was the ever so cool Retro Ranch, an antique store that specializes in mid-century modern furniture and vintage clothing.

From the roadside, Retro Ranch, which is nestled in-between a drive-thru liquor store and a tiny side street, gives off the impression that its small shop might not offer much, but in reality the tiny store is jam packed with antique treasures that would make any dorm room, tiny apartment, or spacious home feel more in tuned with the vintage way of life that many people are digging these days.

Once in the door of RR, you are greeted with an array of mid-century modern furniture, most of which is in impeccable condition, and you are forced to choose to go left or right through the store. The right path leads you toward more furniture, antique kitchenware, including the ever so popular Pyrex, vintage home accessories, and also men’s clothing including shirts, pants (they have some amazing 1970s bell bottoms there right now), suits, boots, and hats.  If you decide to take the left path, you are greeted with more amazing furniture i.e. couches, chairs, desks, lamps, etc., and rows and rows of beautiful vintage women’s clothing. Here you will find dresses, nightgowns, shirts, pants, shoes, handbags, hats, and coats. In my opinion, the vintage collection at RR is truly amazing, and is a great place to shop for that perfect dress for your Mad Men-inspired party or for your Valentine’s Day date.

Once you've taken your choice of path, you will have to ultimately end up in the middle of the store, which is where you will find an array of vintage odds and ends, more furniture, a stack of vintage t-shirts that say "Indie Approved" on them (no, seriously), and a cupboard that has an “18 and older only” sign hanging from it (here you will find stacks, and stacks of vintage Playboy and other adult magazines).

So if you’re still looking for that perfect vintage piece to make your dorm room, or apartment feel more like home, or you’re in search for the prefect present for the vintage enthusiast in your life, be sure and check out all the great items at Retro Ranch.

Retro Ranch is located at 4303 N. 7th Ave., and is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
