It seems the older I get, the more fashion that was thought of to be “un-cool” when I was younger, is now becoming the latest trends. When I was younger, mismatching my clothes was an acceptable “fashion." And in a way, the whole mismatch toddler trend has translated into a new trend—mismatched earrings.

This style may sound a bit bizarre, however designer Lee Brevard has made this a definite fashion trend.

"The jewelry is a reflection of our environment and all of the inspiration for the line draws from people, places and passions that surround Brevard,” a writer says in Brevard's bio.

Brevard’s earrings are 18k gold and come in a variety of styles. Some earrings are anchors, hearts, diamonds, ladybugs, peace signs, crosses, and much more. Earrings can also come with stones or without stones. Lee Brevard has an earring style for everyone and every single one has its own classic look.

The designer’s earrings can be bought as pairs, but the trend for the earrings is to wear them mismatched. If you have two piercings on your ears it is very common for people to wear all four mismatched earrings.

Now, the Lee Brevard earrings are worth it, but can be a bit pricey. So, if you are looking to spend less, Betsey Johnson has a wide variety of mismatched earrings that are extremely girly and chic. Forever 21 even sells a variety of mismatched earrings that are definitely very reasonable.

If you were not looking to spend any money at all I would even recommend taking your own earrings or raiding your mother and grandmother’s jewelry boxes for unique earrings to mismatch.

Lee Brevard earrings can be found at the Neiman Marcus store in Scottsdale Fashion Square. However, if you are feeling a little more adventurous and happen to be in the area, there is a Lee Brevard store located in Venice Beach, California.

With fashion it is always important to be different, yet trendy at the same time, and with the mismatched earrings style you can do both. Don’t ever hesitate to step out of your comfort zone and try something new, and hey, if the mismatched look really is working for you, a great pair of matching stud earrings is always in.
