Palm Walk Runway: Spring Showers

I thoroughly enjoy running into a pair of friends who are both equally fashionable. Better yet, I love when the pair of friends happens to be a guy and a girl. Both students each have their own style, one being more whimsical and girly, and the other being more on the preppy casual side.

With the sun finally starting to make an appearance more often, the style choices on campus are also definitely starting to change as well. With more people straying away from their boots and transitioning into flats and sandals, the sight of spring is very apparent.

Now, the day that I ran into these fellow fashionista students, the sun decided to take a break and let the clouds show themselves. So, the students are dressed more on the warmer spring side.

I am first going to start with the male student. He says he would normally be wearing colorful shorts, with a solid shirt layered with a vest, and of course a pair of Sperry’s. For the overcast day he chose to wear a great pair of dark wash jeans—which are also cuffed slightly at the bottom—an icy blue v-neck t-shirt, and a brown and white stripped cardigan. The student still kept his preppy style, even on the gloomy day. For shoes he is wearing suede ankle boots—very fashionable. His fashion sense however, did not fall short here. The student added necessary accessories, such as a classy pair of Burberry sunglasses, and the classic silver Longines watch.

Now for the female’s outfit. She however, did not let the cooler weather put a damper on her wardrobe, and still displayed a spring look. For bottoms, she chose to wear black jeggings from Urban Outfitters. Jeggings are great especially for the warmer weather because they are not quite as heavy as a normal jean. On top, she is wearing a floral print tank top, and on the back of the shirt there is a contrast of stripes. To keep her arms warm during the gloomy day she wore a light washed, cropped, jean jacket. The cropped jacket jean jacket is perfect for the springtime because it is not too heavy to be worn on a cooler day or in the evening and it looks great with flowy, whimsical tops. For shoes, she is wearing beige Nine West flats with a pointed toe. The flats are great because they are unique without being too loud. As for accessories, this student definitely knows her thing. With an arrangement of bracelets on both wrists, pink bow earrings, Ray Ban aviator sun glasses, and of course my favorite look—sparkly nail polish.

Just because the weather outside is a bit gloomy than the rest, many fashion-forward students will not simply result to the sweatshirt and sweatpants. Instead, they embrace the seasons and show off their fashion sense even more.
