The feeling of finding that perfect dress after long, draining hours of shopping is one of pure joy. But what if you could actually make that flawless dress instead of spending hours in the dressing room? Besides that, what if you could make such a dress for even cheaper than those found in stores at the mall? Well, with crafting, there is always such a solution.
Awhile back, I experimented with spray paint and fabric paint, trying to find the right medium to use on fabric. At that time, I always loved making personalized, unique shirts to flaunt when I was out with my friends, but as there are other articles of clothing to wear besides the ubiquitous tees, I decided to try something new in terms of my ready-to-wear crafts. So I moved to dresses.
We all know that Target and other similar stores sell clothes for great prices. Solid color dresses are a must for every girl’s closet and at these types of stores, they’re pretty inexpensive, about $20 max. These dresses are also so inexpensive that you can buy and then style them to tickle whatever fancy you wish, making them almost an extension of yourself. For me, fabric spray paint made this possible.
My favorite type of fabric spray paint to use is Simply Spray Fabric Paint. This type of fabric paint spews out in a similar fashion as regular spray paint and is more suited for a larger piece of material in comparison to the shoes I’ve made. Fabric paints like Tulip Fabric Spray Paint also work well, but this type squirts out similar to how a spray bottle would spray water. Other fabric paints work just well if you want to go free-hand with your art! Regular spray paint works too, but I’ve always been afraid to wash any clothes I use spray paint on, so just be careful with this.
And there you go, styling and profiling! Let me know how your dresses turn out or if you try anything new with fabric spray paint. I’d love to hear about it!
