JUDEO-CHRISTIAN ETHICS AND GAY MARRIAGE
(In response to the Emilie Eaton’s Sept. 28 column, “Jump on the ‘ban’ wagon.”)
Eaton’s column aims to advocate the legalization of gay marriage, specifically in Montana, however Eaton only publishes her belief in the righteousness of such an enactment without illustrating reasons for such support. Eaton’s attitude paints a very ignorant proposal for support, and her article is made even weaker by an unnecessary list of things to outlaw based on personal belief.
The correct reasoning is this: Political parties adhere to America’s history to build the principles of their standards. The history of America lies in the fact that the Founding Fathers established the United States based on Judeo-Christian ethics, which are extracted from the Bible. And the Bible was the first document offered to man for a civilized lifestyle.
Marking an individual as “homophobic” because they are not proponents of gay marriage is improper characterization. People who are against gay marriage are those who define and sanctify marriage in its proper context, as a symbol of uniting female and male, just as the first documents unite America in its proper role as one of the most defining countries of liberty.
It is only the ideal of marriage that individuals who are against gay-marriage are passionate about. Political representatives cannot take actions against certain groups because everyone in this nation is granted equal freedom, so Eaton’s belief that Montana officials are working to make “being gay in Montana” illegal is wrong.
