Non-Required Reading: Comics Working Backwards

It’s the week before the week of spring break. Do you know what that means? Absolutely nothing.

So, you know how most of the time I talk about comics being adapted into properties that you wouldn’t normally expect? Well, as we’ve firmly established, comics sometimes cross mediums, whether it’s into movies, video games, TV, or what have you.

Sometimes though, comics accept licensed properties into their fold and the entire process works backwards.

Look to Star Trek, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Transformers, and just a crap load of other properties that I don’t feel to mention right now.

But the one lately that’s really blowing my mind is what Boom Studios has been supplying. They first attached to Disney, before Disney was bought by Marvel, and picked up the rights to all the Disney stuff. That means Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Uncle Scrooge, and more.

That more has turned into Disney Afternoon. So, far they’ve only released Darkwing Duck and Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, but holy crap. Those are some sweet comics.

For those of you that don’t remember, Darkwing Duck was a duck version of Batman that was rad as hell. These comics have carried over that tradition.

Seriously, go read them. They’re worth it.  I’ll be back later in the week to tell you what they’re missing.
