I stand in line at the Memorial Union Starbucks getting my daily dose of energy and casually look around for any fashion-forward student who may pass by. Another student standing in line caught my eye. Senior Ashley Nicole Stickler was wearing her own unique, casual, and comfortable style.
What stood out to me the most from her outfit were her unique cargo pants. Ashley’s pants give off the appearance of cargo skinny jean pants, however, they are a stretchy, and jersey-knit material. These pants are perfect for those days that you aren’t quite in the mood to pull on stiff jeans and suck in everything that you’ve got. These stretchy cargo pants are also great because unlike jeggings, these pants give the appearance of cargo pants with pockets. Ashley’s pants even have an extra zipper on the lower calves to give her more options with pant leg styles.
Now, on top, Ashley decided to go much simpler. She is wearing semi-cropped white t-back tank top, and she added one of my favorite pieces, a sleeveless jean jacket vest. The jean vest adds some character and some embellishment to her simple tank. The vest is even two-toned making the piece even more interesting.
To add some color to her wardrobe—but still in the color palate—she wore an orange-brown, simple Greek-style sandal. The touch of light grey nail polish even adds to her outfit.
When it comes to accessorizing, Nicole definitely has it together. On one wrist, she is rocking the classic men’s watch look. However, with the touch of gold and silver mixed into the watch, it gives off an even more feminine look. Paired with her watch, she chose to wear a gold and army green wrap bracelet. This style of bracelet is really common right now because it gives the appearance of multiple bracelets, when in reality, it is only one. Ashley also added a deep purple ring, stepping outside of the color scheme and adding a little uniqueness. To protect her eyes from the sun she added simple, wide-framed, black sunglasses. And of course, for an everyday book bag that can go with almost any outfit, the classic oversized Louis Vuitton.
One thing that I have not touched on is hairstyles. How you style your hair goes along with the type of outfit that you are wearing. I have noticed that the common look for girl’s hairstyles today is natural. Whether the hair is worn up or down, the common look is very natural. Ashley is definitely displaying a natural high ponytail. Especially with little time during the week to get ready, I am a fan of the loose, natural pony, or wearing my hair wavy and natural. Even this year at the Oscars, many celebrities were sporting the natural hair, and makeup look.
Ashley is a perfect example of a college student showing off her stylish side, yet keeping comfortable, and adding her own sense of style into the mix. Especially, when we all have those days when we literally role out of bed, but are style conscious, it’s nice to see people sticking to the comfortable, stylish look.
