I don’t know how I could possibly do this blog post justice when my editor-in-chief of State Press Magazine is a huge fan. But alas, I’ll do my best.
If you haven’t heard of Doctor Who, you’ve probably been either living under a rock, or have failed to navigate through the Internet properly. I literally can’t go through my dashboard on Tumblr without seeing something related to Doctor Who. Well, rightly so. It’s quite possibly one of the best show’s I’ve seen on BBC since the Mighty Boosh in its Old Gregg glory days. Its comedy is uncanny. Coupled with quick wit and a brilliant storyline, the show’s main character Matt Smith, not only fits the role perfectly, but also provides some much-needed comedy when the show gets a little less than comic.
The latest episode I watched, named “Night Terrors,” takes the Doctor, Rory, and Amy on a house call to a little boy’s house. After realizing that this boy is no ordinary, scared boy, the trio is sucked into a doll’s house where all the fears come to life. I’ve got to say, this episode even freaked me out. The doll’s faces were reminiscent of the Strangers, but after the boy realizes his fears, and conquers them, the trio is safe again.
Reasons why Doctor Who is as good as, if not better, than some American TV shows: Everything is better in a British accent. (Imagine this quote in an accent. Excuse me while I swoon.)
The Doctor’s form of transportation is the Tardis, a blue police box. This sentence doesn’t do justice how cool it is.
There’s also a love story in it! I absolutely love Rory and Amy together.
Also, I KNOW I saw someone on campus wearing a Doctor Who shirt. I’m not going to name names (because I had no idea who it was), but send me pictures of your posters and memorabilia and be featured as our fan of the week! And because I love you guys so much, here is the episode to Night Terrors. Stay classy, devils!
