Finally, it’s nice enough in this desert to actually spend time outside for an extended period of time without frying half to death. It’s refreshing. I love to be able to sit outside and relax with a nice book, taking in all the fresh air and the wonderful sights and sounds of nature. And as always, I’m going to share with you all an easy craft that can be used outside as you reconnect with nature- a birdfeeder.
I’ve always loved bird feeders as a kid. Seeing so many birds flock around something you set out in your own backyard is just really cool for some reason. This birdfeeder is probably one of the most simple, I’ve come across, but I’ve found birds really do enjoy it.
The supplies you will need are a water bottle of whatever side or a one liter bottle (make sure it’s clean and you’ve taken off the labels!), two wooden spoons, a craft knife, twine for hanging, and a small eye screw. Don’t forget the birdseed for later!
Cut a circle small enough for the handle of the wooden spoon to fit through about two inches from the bottom of the bottle. Do this on both sides. Cut another set of circles on both sides about four inches from the bottom. The birdseed will spill out of the holes a tiny bit for the birds to eat.
Next, take off the cap of the bottle and put the screw eye through it. This will be the part that is used to hand your birdfeed.
Fill your bottle with birdseed, hang your feeder with twine on a sturdy tree and you’re ready to go! Go outside, embrace the nature, and enjoy this lovely fall weather.
