One of my most recent discoveries has shown me that you can never have too much wine. Now, I’m not talking about for drinking or for cooking, but for the pure sake of using the cork once the bottle is empty. I have quite a collection of corks now from friends and family members and lately I have been using them to make stamps.

No, I’m not just simply putting a cork in an ink pad and making a circular stamp. Instead actually, I am cutting out small shapes on one side of the cork and creating awesome stamps to be used for any occasion. Particularly, I love using stamps to make awesome hand-made cards.

I found a great blog called The Sweet Spot that has a great tutorial on how to make cork stamps. It was really helpful in my own creations!

To make your own handmade stamps, what you will need is a sharp craft knife, corks, and a sharpie, or some other kind of dark, permanent marker. Draw your shape on one side of the cork.  I suggest starting off easy by drawing a simple square, diamond, or heart.  Next, using your craft knife, start by cutting around your design completely. Take your time, because it is kind of difficult. Once you’ve done that, you’re going to want to cut underneath your design so it’s almost lifted up from the rest of the cork. You need to do this carefully and little by little so the cork doesn’t break or crumble.

Once you’re done, you can now test your stamp!  When you make others, trying creating something more complex so you can have a series of awesome stamps!
