With Halloween right around the corner, what better show is there to cover other than the Walking Dead? I am a sucker for anything zombie-related and disgusting, therefore Walking Dead does more than deliver. Serving a fan base of nearly 7.3 million viewers (and that’s just the premiere ratings!) it’s no wonder people are hooked. It has a strong storyline and one of the strongest art departments I’ve ever seen.
The first episode (SPOILER!) follows Rick Grimes and the group as they head for Fort Benning, going as far away from the dead land of Atlanta as possible. As luck would have it, the RV breaks down right in the middle of an interstate blocked with dead bodies and overturned cars.
All seems well as they scavenge for food and supplies until Rick notices a walker…and then a few more… and then a dozen more. There is no battle royale here (unfortunately) because Rick has them hide under the cars, letting the zombies walk on by. Later, it is discovered that Sophia has gone missing. They search in the woods, but to no avail.
The episode ends with the group of men and Carl looking at a deer, in awe of seeing something alive in their presence. I won’t give too much away, but if you already saw the episode, you know what I’m talking about.
So, what can we expect from episode two? AMC released a short sentence of what we can expect, saying, “Coming to the aid of another, Rick discovers a possible safe haven. Shane must go on a dangerous mission to get badly needed medical supplies.” This leaves one thing to the imagination. Where is this new safe haven? Is it at the church or is it with someone new they meet? I can’t wait for Oct. 23!
AMC must realize they have fans as rabid as the zombies they create. They made available the season premiere on their website. You can bypass the search engines, and click here.
