As college kids, we’re broke because our money went to “textbooks” and the weekend’s festivities, but we sure don’t have any lack of random event T-shirts. It seems that free shirts are given away at countless events constantly. In addition, you’ve accumulated an unhealthy amount of band tees from concerts.
I have a collection of unused, and usually oversized (is it so much to ask for a small?), ASU and other event T-shirts that lie motionless at the bottom of my closet. Let’s put those to work!
After some research, I’ve realized there are infinite possibilities when it comes to cutting up a shirt. And the best part about it? There’s nothing to lose. If you mess up, it wasn’t being worn anyway, so on to the next one!
As many of you probably noticed, many girls simply cut the bottom of their tops to create a fringe look this year. You can take that a step further with this fringing video.
Another option is creating a cute key hole racer back with this how-to video.
One celebrity who most certainly knows her cut tops is Kat Von D. Almost always wearing one herself, Kat walks through how to “ladder” your T-shirt and gives helpful hints to adjust it to your size. Check out the video below for tips.
P.S. If cut up shirts still aren’t your thing, donate those shirts! It’s the holiday season and charities are taking donations more than ever so instead of holding on to unworn items you won’t use, give them to someone who will!
