I can’t believe it’s December! This semester has flown by so fast that we’re already at my last post for the year of 2011. I know it’ll be a difficult time for you in the weeks that Piece of Craft is no longer an active blog, but luckily we have the holidays to get us through, so don’t worry just yet!
This year, I’ve been looking around for the best crafty gifts for you to make for your friends, family, and significant other. I came across a segment on Everything Etsy that lists 100 crafty gifts for you to make. If you’re interested in finding something handmade that you can make (or if you don’t think you’re crafty enough, most things you can actually find on Etsy to buy), you should definitely check out the list. Some of my favorites on this list include Hemp coasters, chalkboard necklace, lip balm, and the wine corkboard.
I think this list covers mostly things to get friends and family. The hardest gifts to make I’ve always found are for your boyfriends or girlfriends because you want the gift to be perfect. But here are some ideas of my own(these are smaller scale gifts that are fairly cheap to make, so if you’re looking for a craft a little pricier you won’t find it here):
For your girl: Boys, it may be difficult to make your girl jewelry, but if you think you can do it, I would definitely go for it. You can try making a leather bracelet of some kind, which would be really cool. If I was your girlfriend I’d definitely appreciate it. Other ideas are wine bottle vases with flowers, painted wall art, a scrapbook of memories, or making her dinner can’ t hurt!
For your boy: I think making gifts for boyfriends is the hardest thing ever, ladies. I’ve had artsy boyfriends before, so they’ve always appreciated a leather bracelet (yes, it can be unisex) or a painted piece of wall art, but not all guys are like that. So my suggestions are: baking or cooking a nice dinner, knitting a hat or a scarf (or if you’re really ambitious, a blanket or a sweater), or painting shot glasses or a flask.
Hopefully, these suggestions help you when you’re trying to figure out what to make for your gifts! If you have any questions or comments feel free to email me anytime at fbreisbl@asu.edu, and this includes even after the end of this semester!
