For all of those with significant others, Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate and express your love for one another. It is also correlated with being forced to participate in the expensive and unnecessary expectations such as heart-shaped chocolates, doubly expensive roses and a fancy dinner reservation. For single girls like myself, you may have spent the evening with friends and a rom-com surrounded by sweets.
If you’re like me and found comfort in a few too many candy indulgences, have no fear. A day of mindless gorging can easily be erased with a few minor tricks to drop a few extra pounds. Cosmopolitan shared an article about how to lose weight quickly. They recommend drinking mostly water and cutting all white carbs. By increasing water intake, you naturally relieve your body of excess bloating and flush out water-retaining salts. Cutting carbs seems harsh, but when you realize your body actually retains extra water to digest them, veggies suddenly seem more appealing. They also recommend drinking a cup of coffee before hitting the gym; Doing so energizes your workout and may cause you to push harder and longer.
Refreshing, isn’t it? Now that you’re back to your normal pre-holiday bod, it may be a good time to reconsider your wardrobe and life habits. A reinvented “you” may call for some fashion changes and fun ways to redesign your norm. The travel blog Get in the Hot Spot has a list of 10 ways to shake it up and feel energized. One of their first tips: wear something you don’t normally wear. Something as simple as revisiting an old, forgotten outfit can give you the much-needed revamp to take on the world. Also try wearing different accessories with a common outfit. Just trading out your shoes can put a whole new spin on things. Not to mention, it’s a great reminder of the treasures lost in your closet and a money-saving trick. Appreciating what you already have is priceless.
