Boo to the ASU shuttle service for having a lapse in service when the number of buses is reduced after peak traffic time. There is no service from the Downtown campus to the Tempe campus at 8 p.m. and no service from the Tempe campus to the Downtown campus at 8:30 p.m. This makes for an inconveniently long wait to get home at night.
Bravo to Javier Urcuyo, a 12-year-old student enrolled in a calculus course at ASU. As if we needed another reason to feel bad about ourselves, Javier’s been doing advanced mathematics since he was 10 years old. Before we know it, he’ll be leader of the free country while we become seven-year seniors.
Boo to first semester sniffles. The second week of the semester wasn’t even over before we saw our classmates hacking up a storm with dirty tissues in their pockets. Be sure to stay hydrated, wash hands often and to avoid small cramped places like elevators.
Bravo to the ASU volleyball team. Thanks to a stellar freshman class, the red-hot Sun Devils (6-0) are on their best start to a season since 1997. ASU can tie the school record for most consecutive wins to start a season with one more win heading into the Jayhawk Invitational this weekend. It was only a year ago that the Sun Devils posted a disappointing 9-22 record that included an 11-game losing streak.
Boo to the University for making the process of obtaining in-state tuition so difficult. Out-of-state tuition should be more expensive than in-state tuition at public state universities, but students who financially support themselves and live in Arizona after the semester ends should not have to jump through so many hoops to be able to afford college.
