Cab driver assaulted by customer

ASU Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

A 40-year-old female cab driver called police Saturday at the 700 block of Apache Boulevard to say she had been assaulted by a customer, according to a police report.

The customer was described as being a 5-foot-8-inch man with short hair and a light-brown jacket, police reported.

Two women wearing pink tutus accompanied the man, according to the report.

One of the women appeared to be intoxicated and threw up inside and outside the cab, police reported.

The cab driver said the passengers were coming from a party in Scottsdale and were paying with a credit card, according to the report.

The woman told the three customers there would be a $150 cleanup fee plus the $29 cab fare, at which point the two women walked away, police reported.

The man then asked for his credit card back and said he would pay with cash, according to the report.

The man then pushed the cab driver and ran away without paying the $179 cab fee, according to the report.

The cab driver said she can’t work until her cab is cleaned and is aiding in prosecution, police reported.

A 21-year-old man reported a stolen backpack Oct. 4 at the 500 block of Apache Boulevard, according to a police report.

The man was taking a fitness class at the Sun Devil Fitness Center fields and had placed his backpack near him, police reported.

The backpack was orange and contained the man’s wallet, a laptop computer valued at $300, clothing and keys to his Toyota Corolla and home, according to the report.

The total loss was estimated to be $360 and the man is willing to aid in prosecution, according to the report.
