Live art, chips and salsa, refreshments and vintage clothing are just a few of the things that you will find at Meat Market Vintage on the last Friday of each month.
Created by Cory Martinez and Ben Funke, who are both ASU alumni, Meat Market Vintage started off as an Ebay-based online store and has worked its way into its own storefront right across the street from ASU.
The funky interior design of the shop makes it seem like it could easily fit in with the New York or San Francisco boutique vibe. Inside the brick walls you will find men and women's vintage clothing, accessories and shoes. When you walk in you will also find a hand painted mural, orange couch that looks like its straight from the 70s, mismatched curtains in the dressing rooms and local art for sale on the walls.
Similar to downtown Phoenix’s First Fridays Meat Market Vintage wants to start hosting art and music events on the last Friday of each month. This will be a place where local artists, musicians and fashionistas from the Tempe scene can come together and showcase their work.
Last Friday was their its event. They featured artist Stephen Rosa this time around, and had other local artists painting outside the shop. They also had an overwhelming display of new vintage clothing for the upcoming season.
According to Meat Market, their demographic is trend-setting to trend-smashing women and men from all over the world. They have a flavor of clothing for everyone, from one of vintage a kind t-shirts from the 1990s to flower child dresses from the 1960s.
Be sure to come out and support local Tempe art and fashion scene at the next final Fridays event taking place the last Friday of November.
