Andrew McMahon, former lead singer and songwriter of Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin, performed a sold-out show at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale on Tuesday as part of his first tour under his own name.
McMahon is a singer, songwriter and pianist who has been professionally performing and recording music for over a decade.
After seven years and three albums as Jack's Mannequin, McMahon officially decided to retire the name and began making music as a solo artist in 2012 .
McMahon performed a variety of songs from his time with both Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate, as well as several new songs that will be released later this year.
Like many musicians, McMahon told the crowd that they were the best fans in the world, but he explained that he wasn't just saying that — he had proof through the continuous support of his various projects over the last decade.
Similar to several of McMahon's previous tours, a portion of the profits will continue to go towards his nonprofit charity, the Dear Jack Foundation, which advocates for and supports young adults battling cancer. McMahon started the foundation after beating leukemia in 2005.
He once again thanked the crowd for their support.
"It's nerve-wracking putting a tour under your own name ... but it means a lot that you all keep coming back," McMahon said.
McMahon will continue touring through the summer and his official debut as a solo artist, a four-song EP "The Pop Underground," will be released in April.
