Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

A 21-year-old Tempe man was arrested June 18 at Tempe St. Luke's Hospital near the 1500 block of South Mill Avenue on suspicion of aggravated assault, according to a police report.

A police investigation revealed that the man, who was brought to the hospital for consumption of alcohol and restrained for being verbally combative with the staff, pinned the hand of one nurse and the arm of another between his knees and the bedrail in an attempt to avoid being medicated, according to police.

Both victims sustained minor injuries, and the suspect threatened to kill their families, according to the report.

The man was transported to the Tempe City Jail, booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.

A 52-year-old Tempe man was arrested June 18 at CVS pharmacy near the 1700 block of East Broadway Road in Tempe on suspicion of burglary, according to a police report.

Video footage showed the suspect entering the CVS and distracting the store employee, bringing her to the back of the store, while an unknown male jumped over the cashier counter and took six packs of cigarettes, according to the report.

The unknown male then left the store and used the suspect's vehicle to flee the scene in an unknown direction, with an unknown woman, according to police.

The suspect was contacted by police, read his rights and said he was willing to answer questions, according to the report.

The suspect first stated that he walked to the store alone and that he was trying to purchase an item in the back of the store before admitting that he drove there with a female and the unknown male, according to the police report.

He said he was unaware that the unknown male took the items from the store and that he did not know his car was gone, according to the report.

He was transported to Tempe City Jail, booked and released pending the charges, according to police.
