Police arrest intoxicated woman hiding in bushes

The woman hid a few doors down after her sons called the police.

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

A 46-year-old Tempe woman was arrested June 7 on the 500 block of West Colgate Drive on suspicion of domestic violence-related assault, criminal damage and disorderly conduct, according to a police report.

The woman's son called police because she was drunk and throwing things at him and his brother, police reported.

She injured one son by throwing a drawer at his leg, and he physically restrained her to prevent her from hitting his brother, according to the report. She then left the house when they called 911, police reported.

When officers arrived, she was shoeless and hiding in bushes a few houses down, according to the report. She told officers her children were taking over her house and stealing all her money, police reported.

The woman told police she had had taken Zanex along with drinking alcohol, and officers transports her to Banner Hospital in Mesa for medical evaluation, according to the report.


A 21-year-old Phoenix man was arrested June 9 on West 4th Street and South Mill Avenue on suspicion of drug paraphernalia and marijuana possession, according to a police report.

An officer stopped the man after observing him crossing the street against a red light, police reported. The officer smelled marijuana and asked the man if he had any in his possession, according to the report.

The man began to sweat and appeared very nervous at the question, police reported. He set down a white plastic canister he was holding in his hand and said it wasn't his but that something might be in it, according to the report.

The officer found marijuana in the canister and also found rolling papers and two other canisters in his pockets, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, according to the report.


A 35-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested June 6 on the 2000 block of East University Drive on suspicion of domestic violence-related assault and disorderly conduct, according to a police report.

The woman was yelling and screaming at her boyfriend, which woke up a neighbor and prompted the neighbor to call police, according to the report.

She also bit her boyfriend on the left hand and punched him several times, police reported.

The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge.
