Naked man trashes hotel restroom


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • A 33-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Aug. 18 on the 1300 block of East University Drive on suspicion of criminal trespassing and criminal damage, according to a police report.

    The man locked himself inside the lobby bathroom in a Quality Inn and was making loud noises and yelling, according to the report.

    Employees asked the man to leave the property, but he refused and continued to make loud noises, according to police.

    After 40 minutes, the staff called for police, who also asked the man to leave the bathroom, police reported. He refused, cursing at officers and said, "If you're the police, then break down the door," according to the report.

    Police eventually breached the doors, where they discovered the man was naked inside the bathroom and had broken a toilet, the fire alarm, a garbage can and had smeared blood on the walls and floor, the report said.

    The man had several cuts on his hands, feet, chest and head, according to police.

    The man was delusional and was chasing two unknown subjects into the bathroom and up through the ceiling, which caused an estimated $3,000 in damages, according to the report.

    The man admitted to police that he had smoked methamphetamine earlier, police reported.

    He was arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail, according to police.

  • A 30-year-old Mesa woman was arrested Aug. 16 near University Drive and Forest Mall on suspicion of marijuana possession, according to a police report.

    The woman pulled her car into the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church, got out and walked behind a dumpster, according to the report.

    Tempe police made contact with the woman and discovered she had gone behind the dumpster to urinate, according to police.

    Officers looked through the driver’s side window and saw a plastic bag containing marijuana sitting on the driver’s side seat, according to the report.

    The woman told police she had a medical marijuana card but had left it at her home in Mesa, according to police.

    She was arrested, transported to the Tempe City Jail and released pending charges, according to the report.

  • A 26-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Aug. 15 near the 300 block of South Ash Avenue on suspicion of narcotic drug possession, marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.

    An officer spotted the woman sitting in her idling car with a marijuana pipe and lighter in her hand, according to the report.

    When the woman noticed the officer she quickly pulled her hands down and away from her mouth and reached for a piece of tin foil near her right leg, according to police.

    Officers asked the woman to get out of the vehicle, but she refused, police reported. An officer removed her, causing the pipe, lighter and tin foil to fall to the ground, according to the report.

    Police searched her vehicle and found marijuana in a small glass container, a glass pipe with residue in it and what appeared to be black tar heroin in the tin foil, the report said.

    The woman was booked into Tempe City Jail and released pending charges, according to the report.

  • A 31-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Aug. 17 near McClintock and Del Rio drives on suspicion of narcotic drug possession for sale, dangerous drug possession for sale, drug paraphernalia and marijuana possession, according to a police report.

    The woman was in the passenger seat of a car during a traffic stop with a Tempe police officer, according to the report.

    A K-9 unit alerted officers to several areas inside the car, police reported. Officers found marijuana in a pocket behind the driver’s seat and a purse tucked underneath the passenger seat that contained several small bags with marijuana, methamphetamines and a black tar substance identified as heroin, according to the report.

    Officers also discovered two glass pipes in a side pocket, according to police.

    The woman told police the purse belonged to her and told police that she uses the methamphetamines and marijuana for personal use, but was selling the heroin, the report said.

    The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, booked and released pending charges, according to the report.
