Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:
- A 22-year-old Mesa man was arrested Aug. 16 at the intersection of South Dorsey Lane and East Southern Avenue on suspicion of marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.The man was pulled over by police because he was not staying in his lane and the truck had a broken license plate light, according to the report.
When the officer approached the man, there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car, police reported. The officer also noticed a blue metal grinder in the center console, police said.
Police reported that they searched the man’s vehicle and found a backpack containing two glass jars with marijuana in them as well as a scale and rolling papers.
A multi-colored pipe with residue was also found in a small black pouch near the cup holders, the report said.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, according to the report.
- A 21-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Aug. 17 at the intersection of West Huntington Drive and South Priest Road on suspicion of marijuana possession, according to a police report.Just before midnight, an officer pulled the man over and discovered his license had been suspended, the report said.
The officer called for a tow truck to impound the man’s car and searched the vehicle while waiting for the truck to arrive, according to the report.
Inside the car the officer found a flavored cigar bag with a single cigar in it, as well as one plastic bag that had marijuana inside, according to police.
When the officer asked the man about the items, he denied knowing what the marijuana was, but he later said it was “probably pot,” according to the report.
The man was taken to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, the report said.
