Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- A 38-year-old transient man was arrested Aug. 17 at the intersection of East Apache Boulevard and South River Drive on suspicion of possessing a forged instrument, according to a police report.
A Scottsdale Police officer stopped the man for a traffic violation late in the evening, the report said.
During the stop, he discovered that the man had no identification, according to police.
The officer asked the man if he could search the vehicle, and the man agreed, according to the report.
Police reported that while searching the car, the officer found a fake Sonora driver’s license in the center console. An officer certified to recognize forgeries examined it and reported that the license lacked multiple security features, police reported.
The man said the name on the license was his brother’s, and he was going to use the fake driver’s license to purchase a room at the Rodeway Inn, according to the report.
He was arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and held pending charges, police said.

A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested Aug. 16 on the 1600 block of College Avenue on suspicion of marijuana possession, according to a police report.
In the early morning hours, a witness reported seeing the man passed out underneath a ramada in Daley Park, according to the report.
The witness attempted to contact the man, thinking he may need medical attention, and when the man did not respond, the witness called police, the report said.
Before police arrived, the man got up off the ground and tried to leave, police said.
He also reached into his right pocket, pulled out a bag containing marijuana and dropped it on the ground as police arrived, according to the report.
The man was arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, police said.
